These are the lyrics to my new song, "Song of the Blind", based on Matthew 20:29. It tells the story of two blind men sitting at the Jericho gate when they hear Jesus passing and call out for him to heal them.
Verse 1:
They can remember the sights from when they are young,
That go with the sounds they hear.
Sitting by the Jericho gate,
They often wonder,
"Why can't I be free?"
Chorus:
They've heard of a man named Jesus,
How he heals with a touch,
Or a word of His mouth.
If they could just speak His name,
The blind would be free.
Verse 2: (not sure of the lyrics yet. Had some written but they don't fit the structure of the first verse)
Bridge:
Then one sunny day,
They heard a great noise,
And a hundred footsteps.
They heard the people calling, "Jesus"
And thought, "Could it be?"
With great faith they cried,
"Lord have mercy on us!"
With pity in His eyes,
He touched them.
Second Chorus:
They met a man named Jesus,
Who heals with a touch,
Or a word of His mouth,
They called out his name,
The blind were set free,
To see their Saviour.
